The area is a mix of long-established homes, clubs and light industry, and the bills tend to rhyme.
Solar on, bill unchanged
A lot of homes here put panels on years ago and cannot work out why the bill did not drop. Usually the power is made at midday and used at night, and the supply charge never moved at all. That is fixable, and the fix is not always a battery.
Evening-heavy venues
Clubs, pubs and surf clubs trade hardest exactly when power costs the most. That shape is what makes storage stack up, and since 1 September NSW has an incentive built around it for commercial sites.
Coastal conditions
Salt air is hard on roof-mounted equipment. Worth asking anyone who quotes you what the mounting and inverter ratings are, and where the inverter is going to sit.
Older switchboards
Plenty of housing stock around the lake predates rooftop solar. Sometimes the switchboard needs work before anything goes on the roof, and that should be in the quote rather than a surprise.
Homes and businesses, same team

- At home. Solar, a battery, or a charger for the car. The federal battery discount comes off the price before you pay, and it is set by your install date, not the day you sign.
- For a business or a club. Commercial solar, battery storage and EV charging, funded outright or under Total Care where we pay for the system and you pay for the power.

- Straight answers. If your roof needs replacing first, or the numbers do not work yet, that is what you will hear.
For businesses

A commercial site around the lake has the same two problems as a home, with a third on top: the demand charge. Most business tariffs here bill your single busiest half hour on top of what you use, and that is the line a battery is built to move. We size both from 12 months of your own interval data, not from the size of the building.
Clubs, pubs and surf clubs
Belmont, Swansea, Toronto and the bowls and surf clubs along the coast trade hardest in the evening, after the roof has stopped generating. Solar takes the daytime, and a battery covers the evening peak that sets the demand charge. Since 1 September 2026 the NSW scheme has an incentive for exactly that, at commercial and industrial sites.
Manufacturing and workshops
The industrial estates at Cardiff, Glendale and Gateshead are daytime loads with a sharp start. Compressors and machinery coming on together at 7 am set a peak the rest of the day never reaches. A roof full of panels handles the day; the battery handles the start.
Aged care and medical
Twenty-four hour loads with heating, cooling and a kitchen, and usually single-storey roofs with room for a system sized to the real load. The evening shoulder and the demand spikes are where storage earns its place.
Retail and multi-site
A portfolio across the lake and Newcastle can sit under one agreement, one crew and one number to call. Buy it outright, or under Total Care we fund, build and maintain it and you pay a fixed cost per kWh. Fees apply, subject to credit assessment and contract terms.
