Zool Energy
Privacy policy
What we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how to get it back or have it deleted.
Last updated 16 September 2026
Zool Energy Pty Ltd (ABN 33 640 291 970) is referred to below as Zool, we and us. This policy covers our website, our commercial and residential solar, battery and EV work, and any dealings you have with us. We handle personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. What we collect
Contact and business details. Your name, job title, employer, work email address, work phone number and the address of the site we are talking about.
Energy and site information. Your electricity bills, your National Metering Identifier (NMI), meter and interval data, tariffs, usage patterns, roof and site details, site photographs, and the equipment already installed.
Project information. Quotes, proposals, agreements and the records of work done at your site. If you ask us to arrange funding, the funder collects what it needs for its own credit assessment and handles that information under its own privacy policy.
Website information. Pages you visit, your device and browser, and how you reached the site, through Google Analytics. Our site carries no advertising pixels.
We do not seek sensitive information such as health, racial, political or religious details, and you should not send it to us.
2. How we collect it
- From you, when you call, email or meet our team, and when you fill in any form on this website. That includes the bill upload at zoolenergy.com.au/bill, the contact form, the email step on our NSW battery and federal STC calculators, and the enquiry forms on our rebates and campaign pages and on some blog articles. Those forms collect your name, email address, phone number and, depending on the form, your postcode, your site details and your electricity bill. Some of them are hosted for us by the provider that runs our customer records.
- From your electricity retailer or metering provider, where you have given us written authority to obtain your meter and interval data. We use it to work out what a system would do at your site.
- From public sources and business data providers, including professional networking sites such as LinkedIn. This is how we identify businesses whose managers are responsible for energy or facilities. If we contact you this way, our first email says where we found your details, and you can ask us to stop and to delete them.
- From referrals and partners, such as industry associations, clubs and the installers we work with, where you have agreed to an introduction.
3. Why we use it
- To answer your enquiry and work out what a system would save at your site.
- To design, quote, install, monitor and maintain solar, battery and EV equipment.
- To create and assign certificates under government schemes, including small-scale technology certificates under the federal Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme and peak reduction certificates under the NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme. This means giving your details to the scheme administrators and regulators.
- To arrange funding when you ask us to.
- To meet our obligations under electrical safety, consumer and tax law.
- To tell you about our services. You can stop this at any time, see section 5.
4. Who we share it with
- Installers, electricians and subcontractors who carry out work at your site.
- Funding partners, where you have asked us to arrange funding.
- Scheme administrators, regulators and certificate agents, including the Clean Energy Regulator and the administrator of the NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme.
- Your electricity retailer and metering provider, where you have authorised us to obtain meter data.
- The providers who run our systems: email, customer records, electronic signatures, analytics and hosting.
- Anyone else you ask us to deal with, and anyone the law requires or allows.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Marketing, and how to stop it
If we email you about our services, every message carries a way to opt out. You can reply with the word stop, use the unsubscribe option in the email, or email info@zoolenergy.com.au or call 1300 007 771 and ask us to stop.
When you opt out we stop all commercial email from Zool, not only the list you were on, and we keep a record of your address so that we do not contact you again by mistake.
6. Information sent overseas
Some of the providers who run our email, customer records, electronic signatures and analytics store information outside Australia, including in the United States, the European Union and Israel. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to see that your information is handled consistently with this policy and with Australian privacy law.
7. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses cookies and Google Analytics to understand how the site is used and to improve it. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and Google offers a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics. Blocking cookies may stop parts of the site working.
8. Keeping it safe, and how long we keep it
We hold your information in access-controlled systems and limit access to the people who need it to do their jobs. No system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee information sent over the internet.
Customer and project records are kept for at least seven years, because tax, consumer guarantee and electrical safety obligations require it. Enquiries that do not proceed are kept while there is a reasonable prospect of doing business and deleted when there is not, or sooner if you ask.
9. Getting a copy, and correcting it
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything wrong. Email info@zoolenergy.com.au. We answer within 30 days and there is no charge for asking. If we refuse, we will tell you why in writing.
10. Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your information, email info@zoolenergy.com.au with the details. We acknowledge complaints within seven days and answer within 30 days.
If our answer does not satisfy you, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner on 1300 363 992, at enquiries@oaic.gov.au, or at oaic.gov.au.
